Smart Homes: What trends can we expect?
Smart homes are here to stay. It is anticipated that by 2025, properties that incorporate home automation into their features will represent 21% of all homes in Spain, due to the levels of efficiency and sustainability they allow to achieve. A smart home must offer a set of services that automate the dwelling and ensure an energy saving through more efficient management, as well as promote greater comfort, access, and security. Despite how integrated home automation is in our daily lives, the sector continues to evolve; this 2023, new trends in technologies applied to homes are expected, and we present some of them to you below.
Matter 1.0
Matter 1.0 includes compatibility with other home automation products; such as smart light switches or electronic opening systems (the latter featured in our NN Bretón de los Herreros promotion), which usually operate remotely through an app.
Its launch is scheduled for 2024, but the company MediaTek has already released the first processor that supports its draft version. Its applications go beyond home automation. The increase in wireless communication speed will undoubtedly favor the operation of a connected home.
New systems and smart devices
This 2023, it is expected that the consumption of smart home tools will grow by 4.6%, reaching 1.5 billion devices. Although we have been immersed in technology for some time, updates and improvements in home automation tools continue unabated.
Home automation and sustainability
In addition to the benefits in terms of comfort and safety, smart homes offer many advantages in the field of sustainability and energy efficiency. This is affirmed by the Spanish Association of Home Automation (Cedom), which states that smart homes allow for a 30% reduction in energy expenditure with tools like efficient thermostats that contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint.
We also talk, for example, about devices like the Healthy Home Coach, which records and analyzes all the elements of the indoor home environment. It collects personalized data in the home setting and provides useful and accurate information based on the time of day, the season, or profiles. In this way, the user, through a notification, will know if a room has adequate ventilation, or if it maintains optimal humidity levels for the stay. In turn, it also informs about the ideal temperature levels and the sleep history data of the whole family.
At Núñez i Navarro, we incorporate various services and online platforms through an ongoing digitalization process that has extended to our homes. An example is the case of Sagués, 29 which features Alfred Smart Systems technology, aimed at optimizing energy consumption through monitoring and protecting the apartments.
Some of the services offered by this promotion include simulating the presence of occupants when tenants are not at home and monitoring for potential water or smoke leaks.
With measures like these, we are betting on a future of homes as smart as they are efficient, which allow us to live achieving the highest levels of comfort and respect for the environment.
