Inside The Hotel Barcelona Universal, there is a very British corner: The Wolf Tavern
Near the Ramblas of Barcelona, at the Hotel Barcelona Universal, The Wolf Tavern awaits you, the most British tavern with an extensive menu featuring the best sandwiches, tasty hot dogs, nachos, and much more! Not to mention the extensive beer menu from different nationalities. Don't miss out on The Wolf Tavern! Come in!
To set the scene, we must look back. On July 17, 1923, the ship “Theodore” docked at the port of Barcelona, a huge merchant vessel that sailed the route between Marseille and Barcelona. Hidden on board was a stowaway who was about to make history on the Paralelo, the city's most artistic avenue. Thomas Wolf, a man passionate about the world of entertainment and originally from Portsmouth, set foot in Barcelona to revolutionize the old theater “Le Petit Paral·lel” with his show. After the performances, he would often gather with sailors and bon vivants at the Tío Manolo tavern where his evenings became a true event, as word spread and the small bar turned into his rehearsal temple.
Now the past is behind us, but Wolf's chronicle has served as inspiration for The Wolf Tavern. Near Las Ramblas is The Barcelona Universal Hotel, which houses a new space where sports fans will feel right at home. The tavern offers a wide television grill with the best European leagues, the competition par excellence, The UEFA Champions League, the world championships of MotoGP and Formula 1, and much more!
But this is not the end, the cuisine that makes this tavern unique is its purest British style. Succulent burgers, hot dogs, nachos, pizzas, sandwiches, tapas, and if you want to keep your figure... They also have salads! It's clear that this range of dishes must be accompanied by a good drink, and of course, it could be none other than beer. The Wolf has made sure that its customers don't leave the place without having enjoyed a Beer Tasting, a tasting of Spanish and German beers. Moreover, adopting the Anglo-Saxon custom of drinking certain beverages at a set time, they have introduced Beer Time, a moment when you can try and enjoy beers of different nationalities, at half the price!
Good music is also a must at The Wolf Tavern. On Fridays, there's an acoustic concert featuring covers of great international Pop-Rock hits. Saturdays tend to be more nostalgic, with a revival session of the best hits from the 80s and 90s so everyone can relive their younger days on the dance floor. The tavern will also embrace British or Irish holidays and celebrations, such as Saint Patrick’s Day. The Wolf Tavern goes beyond being just a simple tavern, as its cosmopolitan style and the quality of its dishes make it a modern space with a chic touch.
The Barcelona Universal Hotel has gone above and beyond, wanting to reward all tourists and visitors to Barcelona who stay at the hotel, as well as all fans of Anglo-Saxon culture. If you belong to either of these two groups, you know what to do, you can pay a visit to The Wolf Tavern.
